The legalization of Marijuana; Pro legalization.
Artist Statement:
My political issue was the legalization of marijuana. I came to my standpoint by looking at the drug war perspective of the issue. It is just to legalize marijuana because at this point the war on drugs has been affecting more than just users. It is now affecting innocent people and families of all kinds. I have used many different photos in my poster to show this and they either include political comics or actual photos that show the people being affected.
The visual rhetorical method I used was Pathos which deals with playing off of the emotions of my viewers showing them the frightful truth about the drug war. I was also able to do this by using a tone that was frightful, informal, and funny all at the same time. I arranged the political photos on the left side to show the funny but true part of my subject but I also showed them the frightful truth on the right side of the poster. I put "We The People" in the constitution font because we are the people of the United States and put "Can STOP all of this!" after it in a bold font to show emphasis on how we feel about it.
Refining my poster was difficult because I was trying to figure out how to make sense of all of the photos put on my poster but soon I figured out that I was able to put the funny side left to be read first and the serious real photos on the right so they see it and stop to actually look rather than putting the serious stuff first because I did not want them to just skip over it.

Reflection:
For this project we were given the task to pick a political issue and research about the issue to find the MORALLY correct decision and end political polarization. We first started off with the Moral development interview essay to think of what our morals actually were and start to make a moral decision. Then we started the op-ed article research where we had to look at both sides of our issue, pro and no, and then decide where we stood for that issue. After we found where we stood on the issue we were to write an op-ed article explaining our side of the subject and provide evidence on our side as well as the opposing side(s). With my issue of the legalization of marijuana I looked more on a national crises like the drug war and played much on Pathos (the emotions of others) to get my point across. I learned about how much we are losing to this drug war and that we need a new strategy.

I used many of PAPER in my project. I looked at many different perspectives in writing and researching this paper, the nation, Mexico, drug cartels, our economy, and many more. I used a lot of legitimate Evidence from both sides of this subject that explained why or why not they wished to legalize. I also spent much time looking over my article, poster, and my spiel refining it to make it much better and professional. It was hard being asked question I was not sure of in the first place and I moved by that by telling the truth and explaining that wasn’t part of my research. It was also hard to make a visual representation on the legalization of marijuana because it was hard to find photos without a pot leaf or profanity on it. So it definitely was a difficult but interesting assignment.
I believe my thesis is supported throughout my article as well as having good transitions from one paragraph to another. My quotes were used and cited correctly and my paragraphs were set up well with simple as well as complex sentences.
I think that the weak parts of my article included not enough background information on my subject that would have helped support my opinionated decision.
My final grade should be a B because I think I have hit most of the points on the rubric and have exceeded the average (C) acquirements.
